Juki still makes a straight stitch only machine - they discontinued the 98 but the new 2000 and 2010 are both straight only. I think this was designed to be same basic use.

Interesting. I didn't know you could buy a new staight stitch only machine. That's a plus for accurate quilting and the vertical bobbin is a plus for FMQ. The thread feeds directly to the needle with those. 8.6" throat area is quite generous. Looks like it has possibilities.
