That was exactly the problem! If you don't cut the top edge exactly straight, it won't close again. Scissors will not give you that nice straight edge! And just running a razor knife on a drawn line will give you a wavy edge at best. But holding the blade flush against the top edge of the drawer and turning it gives you a clean straight edge that does the trick. Of course, you can make it any height you want, even leaving it as it is. But I wanted to disguise the fact that it was an oatmeal container, so I had to cut it down. Plus I think the shorter height is handier for its purpose. It makes it look "cute" and not quite so top-heavy.
