In this case, since the wood is so old and cured, I didn't bother to seal it. I just gave it three coats of a very light sage green as this is some excess paint and I want to use it up. The next basecoats will cover this all up.
It is always recommended that you trace the entire pattern on tracing paper so you can go back and re-position over the areas that you need to trace back on. I didn't do it because I was too lazy to trace this entire pattern, (couldn't find my orginal tracing lol) and I am so familiar with the pattern, as I have painted many of these to sell in shows.
I just put the paper pattern on top and was careful not to press too hard with the stylus (pine is soft and the stylus can leave grooves if pressed too hard). Ok off to pick paint and basecoat in the areas.....
