Thank you, MadQuilter and everyone who responded. I looked at what was left on my bobbin and it was not wound tightly. Weird, because I had used over half the bobbin before this happened. My machine was set on medium speed, so maybe I forgot and wound it on that speed. I rewound it on high speed, and so far it is doing fine. I'm so glad it didn't damage the machine!
