I absolutely agree with this advice. I have had two Viking machines, each new, in about 30 yrs. Even the oldest one is still going like a champ. It's on long term loan to daughter, when I use it I still love it. The gently used ones are so much easier on the budget and have many of the same features.
Do the Vikings have metal parts as well?
