first of all i am new to this site -- but i love sharing and receiving new ideas -- particularly those ideas that use old things and bring them back to life in a beautiful way again that can be used in our homes

recently i picked up a fetish for men's ties -- the fabric is lovely and i found it worked very nicely for making quilts -- i made my first quilt last winter for our home -- i was very pleased with the outcome and others evidently were too as it won third at the state fair

the quilt consisted of nine 30 inch blocks across and nine down -- each block is made from the tail end of the men's neckties and then sewn onto the block -- for the back ground i used the men's suite material --

pic is attached of the quilt -- also made two matching shams to go with the quilt -- the quilt i think more of as a bed topper since it fits perfectly atop a queen size mattress -- use a plain quilt under the topper -- at night we can remove the topper as it is very warm for summer months and use the lighter quilt for sleeping

pic is attach of the topper just before completion
