I slept on it - - - and I decided to take pictures without straightening up.
The small room is 9' x 10'.and it has been my sewing room since we moved into our Victorian farmhouse in 1972. The upper cabinets came from a neighbor who remodeled her kitchen - I left the doors off - but I drape the shelves with fabric (usually muslin) when I think of it and ALWAYS when we leave for the winter - learned THAT lesson the hard way.
The 4 drawer metal filing cabinet has patterns, lots of crafting, quilting & sewing files & odds & ends. There are 'ideas' on the sides- & some have been there for YEARS. I don't sew clothes much any more! The closet holds batting, out-of-season clothes that don't need moth protection and odds & ends. And some of what my kids call 'Mom's boxes.' There are more boxes in the attic. Empty. In case I want to ship something. Or wrap an oddly shaped present. Because I have the room. They warned their newly-wed spouses not to believe what the box LOOKED like when they opened a gift from me, because it was probably just one of 'Mom's boxes.' Now my daughter has enough room to save her own boxes, and I have my revenge. She doesn't know it yet, but she's turning into MEEEEEEE!!!!!
The white wire rack below the cabinets is piece of a closet system sold by Home Depot. I have more of those in the closet. The WIP is the crumb quilt I began last summer from the bags of clothes my DD gave me to take my mind off my cancer treatment. The peach fabric came from my stash of solid color cottons bought in India years ago.
I can't fit all the pictures into one attachment, but I'll describe the bigger room. It was DD's, and I moved in when 2 things happened: she graduated from college AND I retired early - no more tuition payments! Hooray. DS had NROTC scholarship.
The 4 posters are attached to a BED which you can't see. The first quilt I ever made (Christmas 1972 for DD) is under all the STUFF. If I ever get down to that layer, I'll take a picture. At the foot of the bed, you can see that I haven't put away the leftovers from working on the black and white squares. They're sitting on a 3 shelved rolling thingy. I THINK there's mending on one of the other shelves. Haven't looked in years.
DH made my cutting table: IKEA legs for a drafting table - each is adjustable, and when I'm doing a BIG scrapbooking project, I raise the back side so I'm not bending over and straining my neck, shoulders and neck. Usually, it's in cutting table mode. My ironing board is usually next to the cutting table, but it's in the little room now, holding up part of the WIP.
Wire cubes full of fabric are underneath the cutting table- most are upholstery leftovers from a friend. The fabrics on the table are from my Fabric Angel. Haven't added them to the stash on the shelves yet. MOST of the stash is organized by color. A lot was cut into 2" strips when I was doing watercolor quilts, and it's on layers of cardboard and foamboard on the far right shelves. Upper shelves have a lot of craft things and Christmas ornaments that I don't put in the attic for the mice to eat. There are a FEW books that I'm keeping for eventual great grand children - have some elsewhere in the house. Should get them all in one place!
whoops - added the same picture twice. I have more to post.
