This is what I was thinking, too. Check to see if you were winding the bobbin correctly. I have been sewing for 40+ years, and when I bought my new quilting machine, I looked at the diagram for threading, but never thought to look at the way to wind bobbins, I just jumped right in. My first two bobbins were OK, I guess, but the third one came out looking like this one. That is when I learned that this machine threads in reverse of all of my others. The thread winds off the bottom of the spool! You have to thread it a certain way to wind bobbins! I hope it is a cheap fix for you too!
