Hi Celeste~ It was Gypsy, one of my mares. She was showing some very strange symptoms: holding her head funny when she ate, and shivering in her hind end. No temp. She wasn't drinking at all--always a concern. I called the vet yesterday morning and she thought it was choke--but caught very early. So I followed procedure for that, but later didn't think that's what it was. I stalled everyone early so I could watch her input/output more closely. I gave her Banamine at 11:00 to feel I could sleep... this morning she seems fine. I don't 100% trust that yet. Something is up. Possibly an unlcer from a point on a tooth. But she's eating happily and wants to get out and play in the snow. I told her once she shows me another poop pile I'll let her out. Her buddies have to stay in too or there will be stress all around. I checked her every 45 min from 4-11 yesterday. Hope that won't be necessary today. Sigh.... so glad I'm home today and tomorrow. She timed it right there. :-)
