Cut 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 "bricks", then sew them into a basket weave pattern. And I do use batting and quilt with yarn in 1/2" stitches. I have two made this way. They are fantastic for covers. One is backed with red flannel, the other is a cotton weight backing.
