There are "real" Rowentas...the German-made models, and the "cheaper" ones, made in China. Note that there really isn't much of a price difference, but there's a BIG quality difference. I've had a couple of the Chinese versions and they don't last long. But regardless of brand, it's a better idea to unplug ANY iron before leaving the room.
