You have made my day! How many times I sat quietly with my father-in-law and I wondered what went on inside as he would smile at times and then laugh and he couldn't share it with me as he had forgotten how to speak. It is so sad. They are supposed to be our golden years but no one told us about the tarnish on the gold. Growing old is not fun and it is only enjoyable in those wonderful short bursts when there is no pain or aches.
