Oh my, we've been there and done that. We bought a Canon scanner (CanoScan) that has special sleeves you can put the slides in and scan. Also used for making transparencies. We (actually he) scanned 5,000 slides (saved as jpgs) and then transferred them to CDs (uses up a ton of CDs!) Could also put them onto a secondary memory storage devise instead of the CDs.
