I use SID because I have a guideline (seam) to sew down.
I have a shot at finishing the quilt because I am still too insecure to try other methods and I like the soft feel of a quilt that is not stiff from stippling.
Using the SID foot helps me stabilize the path (unless I drank more than 2 glasses of wine and the stitch is the "falling drunk along the ditch bank.")

Will I advance? Hopefully. Has anyone ever commented on the fact that their gift was "only" done with a SID? Never.

I have actually seen handquilting done in the ditch. Now THAT I don't understand.
