In spite of the sugary style, Eleanor Burns conveys an appreciation for the rural women in our heritage. She is genuine in her admiration for her ancestors, and the information she shares makes me reflect on the gifts and talents of the women in my family who have gone before me.

When I quilt, I feel connected to my grandmothers, and Eleanor Burns promotes that feeling. The only thing that makes me feel more connected than quilting is carrying water (literally, not figuratively).
