I had the same problem, use 2 of the digital advantages for a long time and used them all day sometimes and they finally wore out. But when I tried to replace the last one that model was no longer available so I had to buy a newer model . I had the first only a few weeks and I heard a crackling noise and smelled burning wires and quickly unplugged it. The company replaced my irons 4 times because they continued to do it one after the other.
finally they sent one that has (knock on wood) worked just great it is a D 1500.
