I'd just use a coordinating piece of fabric and back it with some rubberized shelf liner. The shelf liner will help to keep it from sliding off the slippery leather. Just cut the shelf liner slightly smaller so that when you turn the edges of the fabric under the stitch line will also enclose the edges of the self liner. Works for me!
