I think the biggest thing is what does your machine handle. Most of the thread I use on my sewing machines are 50wt or 40tx. I have a longarm and use Signature Cotton on my LA, so I also use this on my DSM, putting the 3000 yd spool on a stand that holds a large spool and has an arm that comes up to guide the thread.
