Hubby is a Pergo Endorsed Master Installer. I have Pergo in every room of the house, including bathrooms. I have had tile, wood, vinyl and carpeting and this is the epitome of ideal flooring. A couple things to think about.....what's beneath that floor is what causes the hollow sound people get. We have an underlayment of aqua cushioning (a Pergo product) that comes in large rolls. It's acoustical as well as insulating. Second point is Brad will not install any floor without gluing it. The flooring breaths like wood expanding and contracting as it should but when it's simply clicked together everything moves independently. Gluing the panels creates a single unit. They are not glued to the underfloor, they're glued to each other making it a floating floor. The 'give' is at the edges beneath the baseboards or trim.
Anything attached to your home is a serious investment and even if you choose a DIY method please go to a flooring store and talk to the people who know everything about the product. There are some lower quality grades Brad refuses to install.
