I made a scrappy log cabin out of flannel. The centers were all red squares. I cut 2.5 inch strips width of fabric and put them in a big bag. Next, I randomly pull out a strip and sew it to one side of the square. Cut off the extra and rotate the square. Place the used strip in another bag. Take another strip out of the first bag. Sew, cut, rotate, repeat until you have desired square size. After all the strips are used from the first bag, switch bags and start over pulling out random strips. I did cheat by looking to pick out a certain color when I thought one didn't look right . I made 15 inch squares and it made up quick. Does this make sense? My kids fought over who would get the warm cozy quilt.
