Hi Sue, I like that idea but the truth is I just wanted a single, dominant tree against the FMQ background. I thought in this medium, it made for a more striking image. But from now on, if ppl ask I'm going to give your explanation!

Beautiful art quilt. Just curious - was there some reason you varied from the painting, which shows the trees so thin and vertical as if they were being consumed by flames? Perhaps your trees are more defying the flames?
