My main concern here with the rug/bathmat is that in no way do I want it to look in any way country. That eliminates a hooked rug, a crocheted rug or the method similar to making a bowl. I was thinking that perhaps something close to slipcovering an older, wrong colored bathmat might work. No one has said anything about the non-slip paint. I HAVE used that before on the back of latched rugs. It does wash in the washer just fine. It is similar to a very thick liquid rubber(like a truck bed liner), dries to a flexible rubber non-slip finish. The one I used came in the color grey. I just can't imagine that any kind of batting would be thick enough to give a good feel under your feel when you stepped out of the shower. I want it to feel plush.
