Do you mean Lucy M Boston, who wrote the Green Knowe Stories?
I lived in the same village as she did (Hemmingford Grey) in the 1970's and visited her house many times. I wasn't interested in quilting at that time, but remember the quilts in her house - they were EVERYWHERE.
She was a wonderful lady: she used to entertain anyone who came to the house. Afternoon tea with tiny little cakes and pastries, a tour of the house, including the nursery, and finally a tour around the garden to look at the topiary before letting us out of the back gate to the towpath running alongside the river.
