My wife and I usually shop together, so it's not a problem if she asks me to pick up something at the store. However - I have to tell a story about my parents. This was after I had moved out of the house, but was back for a visit.
My mother had sent my dad off to the grocery store for a few things, including toilet paper. She told me that no matter how many times she told him not to buy pink, he always came home with pink toilet paper. (Remember when TP came in pastel colors?) I told her that, more than likely, when he got to the paper aisle in the store, he'd think, "What color did she say?" And naturally, he remembered pink. I said that it might be better if she stop telling him what she didn't want and start telling him what she did want. (You know, that's probably true of most of us married folks.)
By the way, my dad brought home pink toilet paper that day.
