Hi Cindy and welcome from West Virginia. As far as starting a quilt, just start with something simple like a scrappy No Peeky 9 Patch. Cut all your squares the same size, maybe 3.5 inches for the first one, put them in a bag, pull out 2 and sew them together, use assembly line sewing, sewing several 2s together as long as they are not the same 2, then sew the third on, etc. It's a great way to get your feet wet. Sash them in a bright color, and you'll have a fabulous quilt! Pay attention to your quarter inch seam. Most of us don't have a perfect one, but if it is close, everything goes together so much better. Just one suggestion out of thousands on here, as you have already found out--LOL!
