The book just has block drafts. The software has templates, some rotary instructions, some paper piecing papers, but it is up to the quilter to tackle the blocks. The software has step by step tutorials for only a handful of blocks. For step by step instructions, I'd suggest the blog "That quilt" and the threads here. I'm sure we can all answer questions and provide tutorials as needed for sucess.
ETA. The software was a huge time saver because I do not have to redraft the blocks from the book. I will use any method that will do the job but lean toward handpiecing. So I print the block outline onto freezer paper, mark it up and cut it apart for my templates.
