Graph paper can be your friend ... look at the picture and draw on the HSTs in the appropriate blocks.
And then get out your colouring pencils or crayons or highlighters to note the colours.
Two things very valuable in a quilters basic supplies ... graph paper and coloured pencils/pens!
I hate to go on vacation without them! I'm like a little child. I even made a set for traveling! I used graph paper pads instead of regular paper. Here is the link:

I think the colored pencils she shows are great for traveling too. You just screw them up like a mechanical pencil. No breaking. I'm SUCH a little kid at heart!
