For all the ladies who mentioned having their right shoe off, and those who didn't, if you are right handed try sewing with your left foot (right foot if you're a left hander). I was told this in a class years ago. There was also a chiro/physio (not sure which) on Simply Quilts who recommended it. It felt strange at first but after all these years it's natural and my back doesn't suffer as much.
Very interesting - will try it, even though don't have back problems.
Summer and Winter wear flip-flops in house, so barefoot at the machine.
