On a different topic, I picked up some Murphy's Oil Soap like you said for my "new" cabinet. It does appear to have a wood veneer on top of something (maybe press-board). I'm assuming it's fine to use the Murphy's Oil Soap on all the wood areas, right? All this is so new to me and I don't want to damage anything!
Most of these were veneer over oak. I know, makes lots of sense, heh? Anyway...use the Murphy's and do a damp cloth wipe down. You don't want to soak the wood, just clean it. Wipe it dry, and then I know you're not supposed to have to, but I rinse the wood too...again just with a damp cloth and clean, plain water.
