Have not made any but noticed the pattern at Colides or Nancy's. I do a gathering stich on baby shoes so seems it would work on this. Reason for difference is to allow fabric to fit over the toes area. What does your pattern say. If you can't figure it out satisfactorily then contact the company where you bought the pattern and they should answer your questions
