the developers designate certain spaces on the pages for ads, but most of the ads themselves are pushed into that space by Google. they are not supposed to result in pop-ups, and they are not supposed to expand to eat up chunks of the page beyond the designated space. some ads are cleverly coded to bypass controls like that.

if you pass your mouse over an ad and it "misbehaves", try to do the following:
1. keep the mouse there, but do not click on the ad.
2. look in the lower left corner of your browser to see if it displays the source of that ad. if it does take a screen shot and send it to me by email. i can send that forward so they can try to track down and block that ad.
