Does anyone have any suggestions that might help?

Hello, Best Wishes on your 'new' 301. For future reference, you might find it helpful to keep CLP(cleaner, lubricant, preservative) or Kroil on hand. Both are displacement agents and seep into rusty areas to eventually free them up. I got CLP at Walmart in the rifle area. It was not expensive. Sometimes it needs to be applied and allow to set (a few hours/overnight). Kroil is sometimes found in Cycle shops (pedal). Also, we have some wonderful individuals here on this forum who are extemely verse in machine parts and problems.. Billy (Lostn51) and Miriam are a wealth of knowledge. Hope this helps.. Have a wonderful day and Enjoy!
