I thought they had decided to only increase postage in May of each year. Now all of a sudden they can't wait till then?

I don't understand why privatizing the mail would result in huge increases for routine mails such as bill payments and letters. If they do that, people will just stop using the private mail companies' services.

I hadn't thought about the impact on home delivery. I suppose home delivery could become a thing of the past, like home delivery of milk and eggs. You'd have to pay to rent a box at a private mail company and then go there to pick up mail - quite an inconvenience for most of us. On the other hand, a creative entrepreneur could design a business providing home delivery and sending at reasonable prices. ...
