If I understand you correctly, if you are making a queen size quilt, you start with a queen size backing and a queen size whole cloth for the top, put the batting in between and then glue the appliques on top, then machine stitch the applique down which is the quilting for the quilt. Is this correct? What type of basting do you use? What type of machine stitch do you use for stitching down the applique?
