when you purchase delivery confirmation, you will receive a receipt with the confirm number on it and the other portion of the receipt will be affixed to your package. you are able to log on to usps.com and do a tracking on that delivery confirm number to see the progress of your package.

mailing my pal's pkg was delayed till today. Gettng it taped as soon as I get off the puter. and if my pal sent mine-I have not received it yet. just don't want someone to think I didn't acknowledge it. how does pkg confirmation work? will the post office let me know when it has been delivered? never used it before.
