I was also a bit discouraged with block 1 but yesterday I found myself wanting to put my ufo's aside and work on something different so I dug out my fabric and made my first Pony Club block (just a test block reaaaaalllllly) and that first block went together like a dream. I was really impressed with how well it turned out. I used freezer paper templates and cut very carefully and within an hour it was finished.
I also had my book spiral bound along with my Farmers Wife book and that has made it easier to study the blocks.
Now back to those dang ufo's
