I have no experience with classes at Craftsy, but judging by the lesson titles of that course, I wouldn't take it. It seems out of sequence and somewhat uncoordinated for an art quilt beginner, at least in my opinion. Art quilting is a very broad area, just like traditional quilting, so an introductory class should cover an overview much wider in order to give the student some idea of what direction they might like to take in the future.
Unless you're sure this class is something your mother would really be interested in, you might consider a gift certificate for a class of her own choice, either at Craftsy or at Quilt University (which has exceptional classes and instructors).
