I think this is an awesome idea!! There are so many things you can tell your children and grandchildren about the history of their family. This year for Thanksgiving we sat around the table after lunch and did just that. We talked about things our parents and grandparents used to do, how we got together, what we cooked, games we we played as children (there was no TV, electronic games, etc.). We also asked the children about their earliest memories. Doing something like this as a letter or journal would be so great for your family -- and it would be so personal. Merry Christmas.
