Are you saying the 319 drops its feed dogs? I haven't even looked to see if you can drop those feed dogs - at least there is no obvious knob for that on the top of the machine?

No, it doesn't. But, that's what that darning cover-plate is for. Also, when I did the FMQ on my 401, I wasn't thrilled with the raised plate you're supposed to use so tried it both ways-raised plate and just normally with feed dogs up and both worked pretty much the same way...not fantastic. But, I'm going to give the 319 a try next with FMQ.
