Not only is it a wonderful act that you are doing by finishing the quilts that she started but also couragous(sp?) as well.
I am trying to get started on memory quilts from some of my mothers clothing and I am having the hardest time getting up the courage to cut into them. I know that the quilts will be appreciated when done but it is so hard to do through the tears and all of the memories I have of my mother wearing the clothes. Please tell me that it will get easier to do. Is it too early for me to do this? She has only been gone 17 months now.
It might make it a little easier if you think of how the clothes she wore will be transformed into tangible, usable and beautiful comfort giving quilts.....Just like a mother's hug. Clothes are just stored away and forgotton in bags or wardrobes...quilts are loved
