Instead of fabric inner pockets, I use the "tablecloth" plastic from walmart. I finish the top edge with fabric bias tape. It is easier to see what is inside the pockets. I washed mine in the washer and tossed it in the dryer and all came out okay.
I ran the handles alongside the pocket and stitched them down when I sewed on the pocket. To me they are more sturdy than just attaching them at the top...also you don't have to sew them into the seam when doing the lining.
