The abbreviations don't bother me, took me a while to learn them and it felt a bit silly to use them at first. Spelling does annoy me and even though I have a spell checker on the QB a few have gotten through. If the spell checker says it's wrong I'll get a dictionary, something we have plenty of. One of my daughters said years ago, "Mum reads the dictionary like others read a book" Guess I did, but I did crosswords and played a lot of scrabble at that time. Since joining this board I've had to adjust some words to American spelling.
My pet peeve though is grammar. I hate seeing "I done this" "I seen that" and suchlike . They really set my teeth on edge. Guess I had good teachers when I went to school because I'm 62 years old and still remember.
My BFF is a stickler for spelling. I call her the "Word Police". She has been known to go into a shop and tell them how to spell words correctly.
I've always loved words but would you believe Maths was my best subject.
