Just FYI - a friend of mine who asked me to make a tote for her with some vintage fabric she gave me was disappointed because the straps were too short for her to carry her bag on her shoulder. Next time someone asks you to sew a tote, have them hold their bag where they want it to "rest" and then measure from one point on the bag over there shoulder, to the bag again. then add an inch or so for the seam allowance. Works well when you're sewing for others!!!
