You are completely right. I too, think he got defensive bc of his pride.
He made a mistake, and would not admit it, so he tried to make you feel that you were the problem with the, 'kind' of purchases, you chose, from their stock!
I am thinking that he is playing on the, "my daddy owns this store", card.
Well, daddy didn't become successful by treating ppl that way, and he wouldn't want his son to do that either.
You can bet he DOES, treat other ppl that way. If he just started working there, it's just a matter of time, before he does this again!
I not only would go talk to dear Dad, I would avoid saying anything but, "one of the employees", i wouldn't even personalize it, "one of your...employees." Keep it neutral, and businesslike, but absolutely do not accept, that it is ok to be treated that way.
If I see a flaw on fabric, I point it out, so they will cut it off, before cutting my fabric. If it keeps repeating, I say, "I need this much, for this many, x- size blocks. I will get it, and work around the flaws if you discount it, otherwise, I am going to have to pass on it."
I haven't had a rude reply yet. They know, they will have to return it, so are glad to be able to make a deal. Make sure it is one you feel comfortable with.
This guy is going to ruin the rep of this store. HOW RUUUUDE!!!
