Ok; I have a friend who now lived in Michigan and I lived there as a child and it gets very cold. Then and now. I also lived outside of San Francisco and it gets really cold there. If you go to the mountains toward Nevada from San Francisco in July you'll see snow even then. I wasn't quilting when I lived in CA and of course not in MI either but they aren't just warm climates; especially not Michigan. Hawaii does quilts; now there is warm. Lived there for 6yrs and loved it.
