I learned early on that making a quilt can be expensive and if that was going to be a consideration I would never give them away. So I quit worrying about the cost and I do it because it warms my heart when I give them away. If it makes you feel good then give it to her. But I do agree that you should hand it to her because that way you can both enjoy the moment!
