Default My Daughter an Irene Ryan Nominee

I would like to share how I feel about the great honor the small theatre group at Copin University in Baltimore Maryland recieved this month. That is to participate in the Region 2 Eastern Corridor Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival to be held in about three weeks. The small group' play shown in the first week in December, was actually to late to be considered for this honor, but a corrdinator, took in the play on it's last day was so impressed, and awed by the group he pushed for limited showing for the actresses and the props, mistress to be considered for the contest.
Irene Ryan, for any unaware was the woman who played granny on the original Beverly hill billies. On her death she left her estate to the Kennedy Center.
To the university's joy and suprise the play has been picked to give two full shows. My daughter, has been entered in a secondary part as student set designer. She will be given seperate challeges to show off her skills at prop designs.
What is so great, my daughter started school at 37yrs. She is an urban arts major, as is all the cast in the play. and she just took this class because she needed credit for theatre craft. Her ultimate goal after school is to gain a curatorship, someplace, and to open her own community museum. The nomination for set design, is just one more foot up towards her goal.
I am beyond happy for her and the ladies, who put on this play to fulfil a credit and will gain statewide aclaim.
