Yes, and they just keep coming. One I made and it was all my choice. I did not know the mother well. It was white with small gem tone diamonds. I liked it she was oh, so ho-humm about the "blanket". Another was for a niece who wanted a quilt to go with her Curious George theme nursery. I made simple pieced blocks that were of softer color versions of the bunch of balloons that George carries in many of the books. It came out nice and was well received. One for my grandson, I made a turquoise, yellow and white large block quilt. Sounds loud but my daughter loves it. Now the next one waiting to be cut this week is for another niece that rummaged through her mother's stash. Her was a magnificent quilter passed away and I have the stash. My niece picked out four pieces that go together well, I added a fourth but I did not tell her what the pattern will be.
Bottom line. It is all mixed up. It depends on the mother and you the quilter. I would leave the grandma out of the picture. (Just my little quirk.) I enjoyed making all of these quilts whether the colors were chosen, I was given some little bit of direction or if I just made it to bring pleasure to the family and little one.
Have fun!
