I get the empty bolt boards from the LQS (free), cut them in half, fold fabric in half lengthwise, and wrap. I keep them on large baker's racks. FQ's in plastic 3-drawer unit, cut scraps into strips, squares,etc. Store them in bins by size. Took me 2 months to get it all done but SOOOOO worth it!!
My LQS is glad to recycle their bolt board to me and I do the same thing - cut them in half. I think it is a great idea myself. I also just take a pin and pin the top to the board and it stays neatly wrapped and doesn't come loose.
