Have you heard of biddum? It is a "batting like" material that they use when making roads. Some ladies told me they use it in the place of batting. The result is the same but it is much cheaper. Biddum is also used in landscaping - as a sort of lining under pebbels to keep weeds growing between the pebbels. Somebody told me that one of the quilting guilds only use biddum as batting. Sounds better than guana sacks.
